মাত্র চোদ্দ বছর বয়সে ইরানী মেয়েটির বাধ্যবিবাহ হয়েছিল। বিয়ের এক বছর যেতে না যেতেই তাকে বিবাহবহির্ভূত যৌনসম্পর্ক স্থাপনের অভিযোগে পাথর ছুঁড়ে হত্যার রায় দেয় আদালত। তবে স্থানীয় আইন অনুযায়ী, মেয়েটির বয়স আঠারো পূর্ণ হবার আগে অর্থাৎ সে প্রাপ্তবয়স্কা না হলে এই রায় কার্যকর করা সম্ভব হবে না। তবে এই কিশোরীকে ইতোমধ্যে দু'বার জেলখানার সেল থেকে বাইরে নিয়ে গিয়ে কাঁধ পর্যন্ত মাটিতে পুঁতে "মানসিকভাবে প্রস্তুত করা" হয়েছে।
এমন খবর শুনে অনেক মুসলমান বলে থাকে, পাথর ছুঁড়ে হত্যার বিধান ইসলামে নেই। দাবিটি যুক্তিযুক্ত বলে মেনে নেয়া যায়, যদি তারা যাবতীয় হাদিস অগ্রাহ্য করতে পারে। কারণ অসংখ্য হাদিসে পাথর ছুঁড়ে হত্যার প্রসঙ্গ উল্লেখিত আছে। নবী নিজেই এর চর্চা করেছেন নিয়মিত। কয়েকটি উদাহরণ:
Hadith Sahih
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar :
The Jew brought to the Prophet a man and a woman from amongst them who have committed (adultery) illegal sexual intercourse. He ordered both of them to be stoned (to death), near the place of offering the funeral prayers beside the mosque.”
Narrated Ash-Sha’bi:
from ‘Ali when the latter stoned a lady to death on a Friday. ‘Ali said, “I have stoned her according to the tradition of Allah’s Apostle.”
Sahih Muslim
‘Ubada b. as-Samit reported:
Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Receive (teaching) from me, receive (teaching) from me. Allah has ordained a way for those (women). When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female (they should receive) one hundred lashes and banishment for one year. And in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they shall receive one hundred lashes and be stoned to death.
Jabir b. ‘Abdullah reported:
Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) stoned (to death) a person from Banu Aslam, and a Jew and his wife.
